Chennai, Ashok Leyland has bagged orders for 500 buses from the Ministry of Transport, Angola.
A press release from the company said the company received orders to supply 500 Eagle mini buses, including 50 with air-conditioned facility.
Deliveries against this order will be completed before end of March.
The company recently completed delivery of 500 buses to the same customer. This includes 200 units of Falcon model and 300 buses customised to accommodate agriculture produce within the passenger compartment. The total value of the two orders is $43.5 million.
Mr R. Seshasayee, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said, These orders are definitive steps in our global plans of creating a significant presence in the second hemisphere markets.
Entry into the Angolan market will strengthen its presence in the sub-Saharan African region along with its ongoing operations in South Africa and Kenya.
