Amway celebrates b’day
GUWAHATI: Amway India celebrated its 50th anniversary with “Nanhe Chitrakaar” today in Guwahati. The programme is a pan Indian annual painting competition for children organized under the patronage of Amway Oppourtunity Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Amway India. Moted painter Robin Bar graced the occasion as the chief guest, a press release states.

GUWAHATI: Apollo Hospitals Group has introduced the most advanced Cyber Knife Robotic Radio Surgery System in its hospital in Chennai. The instrument was inaugurated by executive chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group Dr Prathap C Reddy, a press release states.
Hexaware posts 10.8 % rise in revenue
Mumbai: Leading software company Hexaware today announced a 10.8 per cent increase in its revenue for 2008 at Rs 1,151.9 crore with the net profit earned being Rs 59 crore, post a foreign exchange loss of Rs 37.9 crore. The company, in a release, said that it had added 37 new clients during the year with 13 of them having a billing of over five million dollars in the year. In all, it had 178 active clients with 68 of them being Fortune 500/Global 500 corporations. The company had during the fourth quarter reported a revenue of Rs 203.9 crore, which was an 18 per cent increase over the figures of corresponding period last year and 3.8 per cent more over the previous quarter. Net Profit after Tax was Rs 17.1 crore post a forex loss of Rs 28.8 crore. (Agencies)
Airtel launches broadband service
Mumbai: Telecommunication service provider Airtel has launched the world’s first online desktop broadband service, that will be available on rent acrosss 95 cities countrywide, annouced the company here today. The service would utilise Microsoft operating platforms and access provider Nivio’s virtual connectivity. Entry level Rs 99 per month pack would have five GB of online storage space and the Rs 199 per month package would include free anti-virus, Windows based OS (operating system), auto-back back and worldwide accessibility. The Professional and Business pack at Rs 399 and Rs 699 per month respectively will provide Windows OS and the MS Office. (Agencies)
Oil cos cut ATF prices
New Delhi: Public sector oil companies today slashed jet fuel or ATF prices by 3.7 per cent, the tenth reduction since September. Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) prices in Delhi were slashed to Rs 29,158 per kilolitre, effective midnight tonight, an official of Indian Oil Corp, the nation’s largest fuel retailer, said. The fuel used by airlines till today was priced at Rs 30,288 per kilolitre. After today’s Rs 1,130 a kilolitre reduction, jet fuel is priced at early 2005 levels. For the 3.3 per cent increase in rates on January 16, jet fuel prices have been reduced for the tenth time today since September 1, 2008, when international crude oil prices started to decline. (PTI)
