BSNL launches slew of schemes for customers

JORHAT, March 25: The Jorhat Telecom district comprising Jorhat, Golaghat and Sivasagar Revenue district launched some new schemes for customers in different aspects.

At a press meet held at Jorhat Telecom office, Motilal, General Manager of Jorhat District informed that, Telephone connection are being provided on WLL (CDMA Technology) and for this 1 MSC of 50,000 lines capacity and 2 BSCs and 33 BTSes are working in Jorhat. In Asom circle there are two MSC, one at Guwahati and another in Jorhat. WLL BSC/BTS of Dibrugarh Telecom District are also connected to Jorhat MSC. The prepaid service with roaming in Asom circle on WLL has also started in Jorhat district, he added.

The general manager also said that, the internet facility upto 144 KBPs speed is also available in WLL. For internet facility it is connected to Dimapur Server and it will be parented to P-200 server at Kolkata by April 15. After connecting with Kolkata server internet user of WLL can Roam in whole Asom along with their laptops. For High speed internet upto 2 MBPs speed EVDO WLL BTC are also planned in Jorhat.

In case of mobile services there are 4 BSC (Base Station Controller) and 147 Base Tranceiver Stations (BTS) working in SSA. 30 more BTCs are likely to be added by June 30.

He further informed that, for marketing and selling of their products franchisee and DSA/PCO shoppees have been appointed. There are two franchisees– one for Jorhat and one for Sivasagar and Golaghat. There are also 182 DSAs and 84 PCO shoppees for selling of BSNL products in this Telecom district. The BSNL Jorhat is organizing sales camps at various places from February 9.
He also informed that, for the benefit of customers, BSNL has launched various promotional schemes. For the Rural broadband customers BSNL has launched USO-99 and USO-150 plans. In USO-99, monthly rental is Rs 99 with 400 MB Upload/Download free while in USO-150, monthly rental is Rs 150 with 1000 MB upload/download free. Apart from it, BSNL has introduced a new prefaid plan ‘India Golden 50’ under Mobile service with effect from March 1. Customers of this plan will enjoy the facility of talking across the country @ 50 paise per minute on any network.

The BSNL Assam cricle has started credit gift system for its prepaid mobile customers. Under this scheme, customer can gift his talk value out of his balance amount to another prepaid customer. Moreover the circle has launched bill information issue system for landline WLL customers through free SMS. To registers this facility anyone can type STD 9401522222. Promotional schemes for prepaid mobile has been launched by Asom circle for 90 days with effect from February 16. A rent free landline connection is also to be given for those landline customers whose average monthly bill of landline is Rs 500 or more. It is being provided totally free of cost.

Stating about some discount schemes the general manager informed that, BSNL has announced discount schemes on outstanding bills of landline/cellone disconnected before January 1, 08. These schemes are open upto March 31. Moreover, in case of Broadband charges the BSNL has introduced 20 per cent discount scheme on Broadband charges for Central Government, State Government, PSU serving or retired employees with effect from December 1, 08.
