Rupee up 5 paise against dollar in early trade

MUMBAI: The Indian rupee on Wednesday appreciated by 5 paise against the US currency on expectations of fresh capital inflows.

A weak dollar overseas against some of its major rivals also supported rupee sentiment.

At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the local unit, traded 5 paise higher at 49.25 a dollar.

Yesterday, the rupee closed 20 paise higher at 49.30/31 to a US dollar in highly volatile session.

Forex dealers said rising trend on the stock markets and dollar's losses against other currencies mainly supported the Indian rupee.
