Markets opened in positive

The markets today opened with positive bias on the back of positive cues from the global markets. But suddenly the markets turned choppy as some profit booking happens at higher level. The significant amount of buying witnessed among the Metal, Realty, Power, Banking, Capital Goods and Oil & Gas stocks. The broader market indices are also witnessing some buying interest in the early trade as both the BSE Mid Cap and the Small Cap index are now trading with a gain of around 1% each.

The traders are eyeing the IIP data for the month of April which will be released later in the day.

The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 15500 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 4650 mark.

At 10.31 IST, the BSE Sensex is trading up by 96.08 points or (0.62%) at 15,507.55 and the NSE Nifty is trading higher by 16.85 points or (0.36%) at 4,654.55.

The BSE Mid Cap increased by 54.91 points or (1.03%) to 5,402.49 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 60.96 points or (0.99%) to 6,211.40.

Jai Prakash Associate reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is trading up by (3.21%) at Rs.221.80 while HUL reported the top loser trading lower by (2.58%) at Rs.253.30.

The Overall market breadth is positive as 964 stocks are advancing while 799 stocks are declining and the 53 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The US Markets closed marginally higher on Thursday with all three major benchmarks closing at multi-month highs backed by a sharp rise in retail sales and a bigger-than-expected dip in jobless claims. The Utilities and the Energy stocks led the session advance which climbed by 2% and 1.8% respectively. Energy stocks got a boost after crude jumped above the $73 a barrel. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) advanced by 31.90 points at 8,770.92, the NASDAQ Composite (RIXF) index inclined by 9.29 points to close at 1,862.37 and the S&P 500 (SPX) grew by 5.74 points to close at 944.89.

Asian markets were trading higher today as Hang Seng, Nikkei 225, Straits Times and Seoul Composite index are trading up by (1.24%), (1.61%), (0.03%) and (0.55%) respectively.

BSE Metal index is trading higher by 214.11 points or (1.79%) at 12,202.81. The top gainers are Sesa Goa grew by (6.14%) to Rs.203.90, JSW Steel inclined by (3.96%) to Rs.660, Hindustan Zinc advanced by (2.49%) to Rs.632 followed by Jindal Steel up by (2.12%) to Rs.2,443.95.

BSE Realty index is trading higher by 52.44 points or (1.40%) at 3,807.93. The top gainers are Ansal Infra grew by (3.65%) to Rs.65.40, Omaxe Ltd. inclined by (2.71%) to Rs.113.80, Phoenix Mill grew by (2.18%) to Rs.121.95 followed by Akruti City up by (2.19%) to Rs.614.40.
