Mutual funds net buy stocks in 3 out of past 4 trading sessions

The mutual funds (MF) have bought equities in three out of the past four trading sessions. The MFs bought stocks worth a net Rs 311.30 crore on July 10, 2009 as against Rs 257.20 crore on July 9, 2009. A sharp fall on the bourses was triggered in the last one hour of trade on July 10, 2009 on the back of a sell-off in index heavyweight Reliance Industries (RIL). The BSE 30-share Sensex fell 253.24 points or 1.84% to 13,504.22.

The net inflow stood at Rs 311.30 crore on July 10, 2009 and this was a result of gross purchases Rs 729.40 crore and gross sales Rs 418.20 crore. On a cumulative basis, the mutual funds have sold stocks worth a net Rs 162.30 crore in the first few days this month (till 10 July 2009). The mutual funds had bought stocks worth Rs 839.30 crore in June 2009.
