Sensex touches 15-mth high, gains 240 points

MUMBAI: Reports of a host of top corporates having paid substantially higher advance tax for the current quarter lifted market sentiments on Tuesday. The day's across-the-board rally added another 240 points to the sensex that closed at 16,454, a 15-month high for the index. With foreign funds continuing to pour money into the Indian market, players said the rally could continue for a few more sessions.

Data showed FIIs were net buyers at Rs 766 crore. In first 15 days of August FIIs infused over Rs 7,400 crore.
