Yes Bank IN North East

BUSINESS REPORTER
GUWAHATI, May 21 – Leading private sector bank, Yes Bank is planning to gear up its operation to cover more people in the North East.

“We have so far 117 branches across the country, but considering the growing market the figure would be increased to 250 by 2010-11,” Somnath Pal Senior Vice President of Yes Bank told this correspondent today. He also said that Guwahati is a potential market as far as banking sector is concerned for which Yes Bank has chalked out plans to cover new areas by its wide range of products.

Replying to a question about the impact of global economic turmoil, Pal said that the banking sector in India is still insulated from the crisis. “Our last year profit stood at nearly Rs 300 crore and we are growing at a good pace,” he added.

Pal informed that there is a possibility of another round of interest rate cut soon. ASSAM TRIBUNE
